Plastic, the fossil marker of the Anthropocene?

The oceans have become a dustbin for the plastic we throw away. This material is so prevalent that it is referred to as the "seventh continent". A recent report even claims that, at the rate we're dumping our plastics, there will soon be more plastic than fish in the world's seas. How can the plastic bottle symbolize both the desire to be healthy and the triumph of the waste society? This is the paradox of the plastic bottle.
