Geology of the Ligurian basin and submarine canyons

Duration: 30 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session

The Geological History of the Ligurian Basin helps us to understand the position of present-day Corsica and the formation of the submarine canyons that run along the continental margins of Provence and Corsica. A singular history that combines plate tectonics, sea-level variations, erosion and sedimentation. It is in this Mediterranean deep-sea landscape that a rich, surface-dependent biodiversity thrives. Images taken under the RAMOGE agreements and using IFREMER resources will enable us to observe these marine environments in the north-western Mediterranean.
